A lot has happened since we last spoke. There was a solar eclipse, we traveled all the way up to Canada (and got stuck) while Hurricane Harvey swept through Houston, and Florida’s still picking up the wreckage from Hurricane Irma.

As you know, Hurricane Harvey hit this town hard. It was literally underwater, and I hope you’re safe and sound and your property didn’t experience too much damage. All of us at Green Financial Group made out okay with the exception of one of our advisors, Monica Myska, whose house was submerged.

Just the other day we were at a client’s house that had been flooded and we were helping them move everything out of it. We removed virtually every appliance and piece of furniture from the bottom floor in that house because it was all destroyed. Just driving down to their house was bad enough—we saw entire apartment complexes destroyed and everyone’s belongings cluttering the street.

It’s a devastating sight, and the biggest question victims of this hurricane must ask themselves is, “What do we do now?”

That’s a hard question to answer, but there are ways to help those in need. Second Baptist Church—which is located right near us—has an ongoing donation drop-off, and it’s received semi-trucks full of goods so far. If your property has been damaged and you need help, you can call FEMA’s assistance line at 1-800-621-FEMA or visit disasterassistance.gov.
